Motor-run capacitors by EPCOS: Compact design in a plastic case

A new series of space-saving P2 motor-run capacitors in plastic cases is now available from EPCOS. With the new MotorCap™ P2 compact series B3235 grounding of the capacitor cases is no longer necessary.

Thanks to dry technology, the components can be mounted in any desired position. Their expected operating life to IEC 60252-1 2001 is up to 30,000 hours.

The diameters of the new series range from 25 to 40 mm at insertion heights of 58 to 120 mm. The new types are designed for rated voltages of 400 and 450 V AC and cover a capacitance range from 2 to 20 μF. They satisfy the high P2 protection class to IEC 60252-1. Safety is assured by special segmentation of the film metallization with integrated safety elements. The affected segments are isolated in the event of overload. The capacitors are available in three terminal types: fast-on as well as single and double insulated strands. In addition to plain cans, the capacitors are available with screw-on and clip mounting options.

Typical applications of the MotorCap™ P2 compact series are refrigerator compressors, washing machines, pumps and air-conditioning equipment.
