The STM32 Nucleo open development platform is growing fast. With five new boards (L053, F072, F302, F334, and F411), a total of nine STM32 Nucleo variants are now available, covering a major part of the STM32 portfolio.
While ST is preparing a comprehensive offer of expansion boards to be available later this year, eighteen 3rd-party expansion boards are already supported on mbed.org with ready-to-use software components. These boards add connectivity, sensors and actuators to the STM32 Nucleo ecosystem, enabling prototyping of all sorts of applications, including IoT devices.
The highly affordable STM32 Nucleo boards allow designers to try out new ideas and to quickly create prototypes with any STM32 MCU. Sharing Arduino connectors and ST Morpho headers, STM32 Nucleo boards can easily be extended with a large number of application related hardware add-ons.
The STM32 Nucleo boards come with an integrated ST-Link debugger/programmer; no need for an external probe. The boards work with a wide range of development environments including IAR EWARM, Keil MDK, mbed, GCC-based IDEs (Atollic TrueStudio).
STM32 Nucleo users have free access to the mbed online compiler, the mbed online C/C++ SDK and the developer community at mbed.org, allowing the ability to build a complete application in only a few minutes.
