TDK offer a wide range of surface mount power inductors designed for the most demanding applications. Some of the most recent introductions the VLF-M, VLS-E and VLS-HBX-1 series offer compact sizes from 2.0mmx1.6mm to 5.0mmx4.0mm and include low profile models with heights down to 0.8mm and high current ratings of up to 7.1A.
The VLF-M and VLS-E series utilise a Ferrite core design whilst the VLS-HBX-1 series is constructed using a Metal core, both the Ferrite and Metal core constructions are magnetically shielded. The Metal core construction used on the VLS-HBX-1 enables higher current ratings for higher power applications and also allows designers to use a physically smaller sized part for designs where PCB space is constrained.
The VLF-M series is available in sizes from 2.5mm x 2.0mm to 5.0mm x 4.0mm with an inductance value range from 0.47uH to 22uH and a rated current of up to 4.14A. The VLS-E series is offered in 2.0mm x 1.6mm to 4.0mm x 4.0mm sizes and features parts with extremely low profiles down to 0.8mm height, inductance values range from 0.47uH to 47uH and a rated current of up to 3.1A is achievable. The VLS-HBX-1 series is available in sizes 2.0mm x 1.6mm to 2.5mm x 2.0mm and has an inductance range from 0.24uH to 10uH throughout with an impressive current rating of up to 7.1A due to its Metal core design.
All three series have an operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C and are supplied in tape and reel packaging for automatic handling.
