The 1.8V-powered STM32F0x8 and STM32F3x8 microcontrollers, derivatives of the STM32 F0 and F3 MCU series, can be directly connected to the existing power rail in consumer devices where the main application processor runs at low voltage. The ARM Cortex-M0 based STM32F0x8 line with its dual voltage supply is ideally suited as a communication bridge (USB), while the Cortex-M4 based STM32F3x8 delivers up to 90 DMIPS of performance with an ADC fully functional down to 1.8V.
These MCUs are available in ultra-small, chip-scale packages for easy integration in space-constrained consumer applications.
The STM32F0x8 line operates at 1.8V +/-8%. It is well suited to use in portable consumer applications such as smartphones, accessories and media devices, and allows designers to take advantage of the same features as the STM32F0 series with no compromise or degradation in processing performance when operating at lower voltage.
The combination of 1.8V digital supply voltage, a separate I/O voltage supply rail and an independent analog domain is an advantage in heterogeneous system architectures, leading to simplified system design and connected cost savings. The STM32F0x8 devices are ideal low-voltage companion microcontrollers, allowing to maintain a wide analog dynamic range or to directly connect USB devices.
The STM32F3x8 are mixed signal MCUs with ARM Cortex-M4 core (DSP, FPU) running at 72 MHz.
The devices are equipped with:
The STM32F3x8 devices operate at 1.8 V +/-8% to be supplied by an external voltage regulator
They are particularly suited for equipment operating at low voltage like consumer and gaming applications or sensor hubs, allowing further savings in system power consumption. The 1.8V operating voltage allows for direct interfacing with 1.8V application processors, while maximum dynamic on analog input can be reached with an optional analog supply.
Memory ranges from 32- to 256-Kbyte and packages from 32- to 100-pin.
Versions with 384 and 512 Kbytes Flash and 144 pins will be available in Q3/2014.
