Taicom’s pluggable terminal block range expanded to meet the demands for faster PCB connectivity.

Taicom have recently expanded their range of pluggable terminal blocks, which now provides a much wider selection of products covering a large variety of styles and pitches.

The Taicom pluggable terminal blocks have been primarily designed for “in the field” connection where they can help reduce assembly time and down time in the event of a PCB failure or upgrade. They are particularly suited to industrial applications where down time needs to be kept to a minimum. Due to their outstanding performance these pluggable connectors have also found their way into many other applications that can benefit from the ease of a plug and socket mating system.

This range of industry standard two part pluggable terminal blocks is available on a wide variety of pin pitches, 3.5mm, 3.81mm, 5mm, 5.08mm and 10mm and offers the choice of horizontal or vertical mounting directions.

The pluggable blocks all feature combi screws making them suitable for use with either a flat bladed screwdriver or a Phillips screwdriver and are also suitable for use with pneumatic tools for high speed assembly processes. Screws are captive in the housing to prevent them falling out during wiring.

Two styles of pluggable block are available, Plug and Pin Strip or Plug and Socket/Header type.

The Plug and Pin Strip types are available in 5mm or 10mm pitch with the plugs featuring wire protection guards and the capability of vertical or horizontal mounting on the pin strip. Furthermore, they have an interlocking dovetail system so that any permutation of ways can be made to the customer’s specific requirement. The PCB mounting pin strip is supplied in 24 way (5mm pitch) or 12 way (10mm pitch) and can be broken down to the required numbers of ways.
The 5mm pitch version has current and voltage ratings of 10A/250V with the 10mm pitch version rated at 10A/380V, both accepting wire sizes up to 2.5mm2 (solid conductor). Mouldings are coloured Black throughout and have an operating temperature range of -33°C to 120°C.

The Plug and Socket/Header types are available in 3.5mm, 3.81mm, 5.0mm and 5.08mm pitch and feature polarised and latched mating to prevent incorrect connection or accidental disconnection. The plugs also utilise the superior rising clamp wire protection system, which offers improved wire retention and greater resistance to vibration. Supplied in either right angle or straight form the plugs have the option of a reversed body on the straight plug to allow maximum versatility. The socket/headers are available in vertical or right angle PCB mounting styles and have closed ends, with the option of open ends on the 5.0mm and 5.08mm pitches.
The 3.5mm and 3.81mm pitch ranges have current and voltage ratings of 8A/300V and will accept wire sizes up to 1.5mm2 (solid conductor). The 5.0mm and 5.08mm pitches have ratings of 15A/300V and will accept wire sizes up to 4.0mm2 (solid conductor). Mouldings are coloured in high visibility Green throughout and have an operating temperature range of -33°C to 120°C for plugs and -40°C to 105°C for socket/headers.

Both pluggable systems employ high quality glass filled polyamide mouldings, flame retardant to UL94V-0, and are offered in 2 to 12 ways throughout with the option of other numbers of ways to customer’s specific request.
