Hirose introduce 0.25mm Pitch Single Action Lock FPC Connectors allow Easy Assembly and Improved Reliability, samples available from Anglia

0.25mm Pitch Single Action Lock FPC Connector

HIROSE, a world-class manufacturer in connectors has developed the FH62 series range of Flat Printed Circuit (FPC) connectors to allow automated insertion of an FPC to save assembly time and improve reliability.

The unique single action lock design of the FH62 allows an FPC to be inserted into the connector without opening the lock lever. This allows operators to insert the FPC quickly with one hand or by automated machinery to save valuable assembly time and reduce mating failures.

Single action lock design

The notches on both sides of the FPC are held by the FH62 lock lever, this generates a high FPC retention force even though the connector is very compact. The FH62 connector can accommodate a rigid 0.3 mm thick FPC, the design of the connector also helps to prevent deformation of the FPC when inserting.

FPC retention feature

The connector series supports high-speed transmission with excellent impedance properties. By making a differential pair with the same type of contacts (even number-even number of contacts, odd number-odd number of contacts) excellent transmission characteristics are achieved, supporting eDP (ver1.4), MIPI (D-PHY) and USB3.0 standards.

The surface mount FH62 connectors have a compact design with a pitch of 0.25mm and connector width of just 4.0mm, this saves valuable space on the PCB making these connectors ideal for smaller applications such those for portable equipment. The integral moulding structure of the connector has no gaps to prevent solder wicking during the assembly process.

The FH62 connectors are compatible with FPC thickness of 0.3mm ±0.03mm and are available in 13 to 61 contact counts, the connectors are supplied on tape and reel packaging making them compatible with automatic assembly equipment.

The connector housings are moulded from high temperature LCP and PA material which is flame retardant to UL94V-0, contacts are copper alloy material with gold plating finish. The connectors are rated for operation at 0.25A max. and 30V AC/DC, operating temperature range is -55°C to +85°C.
