Ultra Compact Hybrid BM29 Series from Hirose provide Robust Power and Signal connections, samples available from Anglia

Hirose has introduced the BM29 series of connectors to provide a robust, high power and space-saving connectivity solution for miniature applications. The BM29 range of connectors consists of headers and receptacles to allow a flat printed circuit (FPC) to board connection.

The low profile BM29 series features an ultra-compact design that has a low stack height of 0.6mm, narrow depth of 1.5mm and a width of 3.16mm, the BM29 series is one of the smallest hybrid FPC- to-board connectors in the world.

The hybrid design of the BM29 series connectors allows for both power and signals to be handled, signal contacts are rated at 0.3A (amps) and power contacts rated at 3A (amps). The BM29 series connectors have a rated voltage of 30V AC/DC and operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.

Combination Signal and Power contact design

Although the dimensions are compact, performance is not compromised, and the connectors are able to offer highly reliable mechanical connection due to the provision of unique 2-point contacts and a long effective mating length of 0.1mm. Guide ribs are incorporated into the housing body to provide for a wide self-alignment range of 0.3mm in the X-direction and 0.24mm in the Y-direction. In addition, this allows a smoother mating operation.

The robust housing also incorporates a metal guide to prevent any damage due to incorrect mating and contacts are designed to provide a tactile click to ensure secure mating.

Metal locks prevent any unintended un-mating due to drop impact and also help to increase the retention force.
