Panasonic offers a wide range of miniature modules within the Bluetooth® ecosystem, with a choice of Classic Bluetooth®, Bluetooth® Smart Ready and Bluetooth® Smart technology modules with or without software/profiles. The modules are all pre-certified reducing integration costs and time to market.
Bluetooth® is a networking standard designed to meet IEEE 802.15.1 and administered by the Bluetooth® Special Interest Group (BT SIG). Conceived as a 2.4GHz wireless standard to replace wired headsets in 1999, Bluetooth® has grown in both scope and capability. Today it is the most prolific wireless standard used with over 1,000,000 nodes added to the global network every day, in cell phones, PC's, consumer and medical electronics applications and many more.
Compatibility
- Classic Bluetooth® technology is best suited to high data rate applications (up to 3 Mbits), where the network size is under eight nodes.
- Bluetooth® Smart technology reduces power consumption down to a tenth of a Classic Bluetooth® device.
- Bluetooth® Smart Ready devices receive data sent from Classic Bluetooth® devices and Bluetooth® Smart devices (Bluetooth® Low Energy).
Since its release Bluetooth® Smart and Bluetooth® Smart Ready enabled products are flooding the market. Applications include smartphone accessories, sport and leisure equipment and medical and health care devices.
