Focus on Motion with the ADXL367 Digital output MEMS accelerometer from Analog Devices that offers excellent resolution and ultralow power consumption. Evaluation board and samples available from Anglia
The ADXL367 from Analog Devices is an ultralow power, 3-axis microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) accelerometer that consumes just 0.89 μA at a 100 Hz output data rate and 180 nA when in motion-triggered wake-up mode

AVX launches industry's first 63V and 75V SMD polymer tantalum capacitors for high voltage applications

AVX has extended its TCJ series of single anode polymer tantalum capacitors to include the first 63V and 75V rated SMD devices on the market. Further developments suggests that devices with voltages as high as 125V will be introduced to mass production during 2012. The new high voltage polymer tantalum capacitors offer the combined benefits of high capacitance, high voltage, small case sizes and low ESR technology. Available in 1uF/63V, 4,7uF/63V, 10uF/63V and 4.7uF/75V, 6.8uF/75V rated voltages, maintain 20% recommended voltage derating and thus significantly extend usable voltage range. This unique combination brings tantalum technology to a number of new applications at voltages lines 48 – 60V.

The use of polymer material for reduces ignition failure mode makes them more robust against thermal runaway compare to the conventional tantalum technology. High reliability is assured by 100% ageing and screening processes. TCJ features reliability better than 1% per 1000hrs at 85C and full rated voltage. SMD technology also offers the advantages of small case sizes and low profiles for high-speed pick and place PCB assembly process.

High voltage applications include DC/DC converters supplying circuits in LCD TVs, base stations, rectifiers, switching hubs, router and line filters, plus LED power drivers in PC monitors and LED TVs. The new TCJ series is the key for new high voltage and high ripple current applications, not currently available on the market by any other capacitor technology.

Unlike the MLCC, TCJ high voltage tantalum polymer capacitors are free of audible noise of LCD monitors. MLCC may emit noise and degrade the signal due to its piezo effect. Tantalum capacitors are free of this problem. High voltage tantalum capacitors will also reduce the overall number of parts required and increase layout flexibility. The low profile of the TCJ high voltage series will enable LCD monitors and similar devices to become even thinner and takes up less space than comparable capacitor technologies on the market, such as aluminium electrolytic capacitors.

TCJ series is RoHS friendly and halogen-free components.
