Hitachi launch robust 5.1-inch LCD display for demanding environments
Ideal for a range of applications from home appliances to vending machines, and from industrial process control interfaces to epos terminals, the SP14N01L6xLCZ modules offer design engineers a toughened 240 (w) x 128 (h) black and white Film STN display that includes resistive touchscreen functionality (SP14N01L6xLCZ). The display is manufactured using straight TCP (tape carrier package) instead of chip-on-board, enabling better optical performance in a more robust, compact and lightweight module. A wide viewing angle polarizer has also been added to help disperse light output and improve viewing. “These toughened LCD modules are ideal for appliances and other applications where a control display might be exposed to more extreme temperatures and humidity and where machine vibration might be common,” comments Mark Dalton, Product Marketing Engineer for Hitachi Display Products Group. “The design of the new modules is intrinsically more robust than previous models, giving this display much greater flexibility in its applications.” The introduction of white LEDs removes the need for a high voltage inverter, enabling a reduction in emissions and improved safety. The SP14N01L6xLCZ models are both fully backward compatible with Hitachi’s SP14N001 and LMG7420PLFC-X display modules and mounting holes and mechanical outline dimensions have been maintained to give customers an easy upgrade path. The SP14N01L6xLCZ’s operate in transmissive mode and offer excellent brightness and contrast.
