Taicom introduces high quality rising clamp terminal blocks

 

Taicom's new rising clamp terminal blocks offer a comprehensive selection of products to cover the various pitches and heights now found in modern applications, enhancing the versatility of the range.

The rising clamp blocks are available in conventional vertical (180º) mounting style, or diagonal (45º) for applications where access is restricted. The diagonal (45º) mounting versions allow the user easy access to the wire entry hole and screw. The rising clamp types also have a wide variety of industry standard pin pitches to choose from, 3.5mm, 3.81mm, 5mm, 5.08mm and 7.5mm for vertical (180º) mount styles and 5mm or 10mm pitch for diagonal (45º) mount.

Terminal blocks with rising clamp wire protection offer several advantages over more traditional wire guard blocks particularly in situations where the wire termination needs to be more secure and have greater resistance to vibration. The rising clamp method of termination also improves the protection of stranded wires and ensures that all of the strands are clamped securely. This is one of the main advantages over the standard blocks where wires can be damaged during assembly or even inadequately clamped creating a poor or high resistance termination that could cause a hot spot and possible failure of the connection.

Applications include for example process instrumentation, medical equipment, control systems, SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition), test & measurement, I/O modules, signal linking & telemetry equipment and industrial control, as well as many others.

Current and voltage ratings for the rising clamp terminal blocks range from 6A/125Vac up to 10A/750Vac depending on pitch chosen, whilst wire acceptance extends from 1.0mm2 (1.5mm2 Solid) up to 2.5mm2 (4.0mm2 Solid) again depending on the model.

The rising clamp blocks are offered in 2 to 12 ways throughout and have an interlocking dovetail feature as standard so that a larger number of ways can be assembled to customer’s specific requirements. Screws have a combi head design to allow the use of either a flat bladed or Philips style screwdriver and are held captive within the blocks.

As with all Taicom connectors the rising clamp terminal blocks use only the highest quality materials and the latest production techniques in their manufacture. Insulators are moulded from polyamide material, which is flame retardant to UL94V-0 and has a wide operating temperature range of -33°C to +120°C.
