Diode's smart fan driver in SOT89-5L drives higher power single phase BLDC fan motors

Diode's smart fan driver in SOT89-5 drives higher power single phase BLDC fan motors

Diodes Incorporated has introduced the AH5792, a highly integrated single chip solution for driving single-phase brushless DC (BLDC) fans and motors.

It has an integrated bidirectional full bridge driver output stage for single coil fan motor applications. The device includes features such as rotor lock detection, protection and automatic self restart to avoid damage to the coil when the rotor is locked.

The AH5792 provides open drain frequency generator (Tachometer) pin, FG, which makes it easier to interface with external hardware for status and speed monitoring purposes.

Now available in SOT89-5L in addition to SOT553, the higher thermal performance of SOT89-5L allows it to drive ultra thin cooling fans and small motors with average current up to 300mA. The low profile small package SOT553 is suited for space constrained miniature fan and motor applications such as micro-vibration motors in mobile phones.
