Panasonic introduces the FM series of long life, very low ESR radial electrolytics

Panasonic has announced the introduction of a range of aluminium electrolytic capacitors, the FM series, which have been designed specifically for applications where long life, high temperature, low ESR, low impedance and high ripple current are required. For example, the secondary circuit of a switching power supply.

Features of the radial FM series:

1) Low impedance, low ESR and high permissible ripple current

• 40-70% lower ESR than existing standard FC series e.g. 12.5 x 35 size : 0.012 ohm max at 100 kHz
• Approximately 1.5 times higher ripple current available, compared to existing standard FC series e.g. 16 x 25 size : 3820 mA rms at 100 kHz

2) Long life - 2000 to 7000 hours at 105°C

• 1.5 times longer life time guarantee compared with existing FC series

3) Approximately 30% smaller case size than standard FC series

4) Fully RoHS compliant, PVC and Lead(Pb) free.

Applications include:

• Audio and Video Equipment
• Control and Communication Units
• White Goods e.g. Air Conditioners and Cookers
